According to the Gospel of Matthew, the Magi travelled from the East to honour the newborn Jesus, bringing three precious gifts: gold, frankincense and myrrh. Gold represented earthly treasure, while frankincense and myrrh were precious aromatic resins—fragrances worthy of reverence and ceremony.
Frankincense has traditionally been associated with prayer, worship and the sacred. When placed upon glowing charcoal, it releases a luminous, resinous smoke that rises slowly into the air. For thousands of years, its fragrance has accompanied moments of contemplation and devotion.
