In the historic Kingdom of Mysore, wild sandalwood belonged strictly to the Maharaja. Private citizens could not legally harvest, sell, or possess the precious wood. The finest sandalwood was carefully controlled, harvested under state authority, and stored as a valuable royal reserve.
This was The Reserve—a legendary stockpile of some of the world’s most prized sandalwood, protected behind the gates of the Mysore Palace.
The true magic of the reserve was time. Deep in storage, massive logs of golden heartwood were kept protected and undisturbed. As sandalwood matures, its naturally occurring aromatic oils develop their characteristic depth, richness and unmistakable creamy, woody character.
The longer the wood was preserved, the more precious its fragrance became—a scent shaped not only by the tree itself, but by years of patience and careful protection.
